Long distances in Australia. I need to carry camping gear. :-)

Mine is not quite so comfy.
Here is a photo at the Phillip Island classic GP today.

Like it...Want to have summer and ride my SRX.
Whats about your voltage regulator?

The regulator worked OK thanks.
I needed lights and indicators for busy traffic on the road home. Lots of exotic motorcycles at the GP like Vincent, Sachs V twin, Britten ... but only one SRX !

Yes, just mine.
As far as I am aware, the SRX was never sold here by Yamaha. People are now personally importing them from Japan but still very few on our roads.

On japanese auctions SRX600 1JKs are offered a lot.
I guess about 50 at a time

Australian traders occasionally import one from Japanese auctions and offer for sale on ebay. This is where I bought mine.
However, these imported vehicles must be manufactured before 1989 if you wish to register for the road. That is why there is no 3SX models here.

Greetings from Australia.
Winter is nearly over. Here is a photo of the SRX on a mountain track. 600km of road, 50km of dirt. I did drop the bike once on a steep rocky track. I had to unload 24 cans of beer before I could pick the bike up. I needed supplies for 2 days camping in the bush Happy riding ! Rob

Very nice :-)
So it semms that you don't need a Enduro.

Despite a high first gear, the engine has adequate torque at low revs. The bike is small, low weight and agile. I travel much slower than the enduros on dirt roads, but I get there ! My favourite bike for country tours. Rob

Heavy snow & mud while camping.
I removed and carried the front guard. However, the rear wheel also locked up with mud & stalled the motor frequently. The rear wheel is a 17 inch Suzuki GS500E so I can fit a mud tyre.

Hi Rob,
... Hardcore SRX riding ! ... another example of the universal use of our toys. Your mud action is even harder than my little gravel tour in Finland two years ago. My enduro tires were perfectly adequate. I use them on original wheels. GS500 rear wheel fits on SRX!? ... nice to hear that ! Did you mount the 17" Suzi rims especially for this tour or do you always ride them with street tires too ? What effort was necessary to make it fit. I would like more information on that. Best regards Frank from Hamburg
